What do you long for...

As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God.

When your adventure ends...

...take time to reflect on your experience during your long drive home.

I take the drive home to reflect about the whole experience.  This embeds the trip into my memory bank.  I can then bring it back out during the hard days when I am stuck in the office.  The adventures we share with family and friends really create  lasting bonds that make the relationships stronger.  I especially love my adventures with my 7 year old son on the bike trail, hiking trail, paddling down the river in our kayak or baiting his hook to catch the big one.  It's hard to describe how great it feels when my son experiences something new that I show him.  He always has that look in his eyes with a big grin saying, "Awesome Dad!"  These moments are precious to me and I hope down the road he feels the same.

Get out and create your own Adventures!!!

He's just a little boy...

He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast;
The bases are loaded; the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad can not help him; he stands all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball nears the plate; he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.

A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum!"
Tears fill his eyes; the game's no longer fun.
Remember - he's just a boy who stands all alone.
So open your heart and give him a break.
For it's moments like this a man you can make.
Keep this in mind when you hear someone forget.
He's just a little boy, not a man yet.

I'm not sure who wrote this.  I found it on a friends link on Facebook.  It was printed on a sign attached to a little league diamond fence.  Underneath it said donated by Cana Tigers, which I believe is a team in Corsicana, TX

Paranoia...

I think the bikes are a little overprotected.

Sweep it up and move on with your day...

Some mornings you have to sprinkle a little kitty litter
on the ground, stomp it down and sweep it up.

Then you start your day over.

Spring...

Everyone should have a Spring ritual to pull your mindset out of Winter's
hibernation.  Mine is pulling my 1978 Honda 550 four out of the garage
and firing her up for the first time of the season.  What a great experience
hearing her engines rev and smelling her gassy exhaust.  Once she is
warmed up I take her for a ride to set her free on the open road again.

Take a moment...

Take a moment to show your children the world up close.

They may not appreciate it at first,
but the memory will last a lifetime for them and you.
